Welcome

..  to the homepage of the historic re-enactment society M I M |man in middle-ages

We aim for the credible presentation of people from various location in Europe around the year 1345. These people could be peasants, soldiers, merchants, nobles and clergy.

m i m  incorporates historical crafts, activities and costumes into an interactive presentation that seeks to give observers and participants a sense of opening a window into the past.

Using re-enactment as an educational medium and work in cooperation with living history museums, historic sites, heritage interpreters, schools and other historical re-enactment groups to educate the public in a particular area of history, such as clothing styles, pastimes and handicrafts, or to simply convey a sense of the everyday life in the middle of the 14th century.

We are aiming for the highest possible level of authenticity and use period sources like illuminations and manuscripts to recreate the tools and fashion we use and wear.
m i m  is currently mainly focused on these interactive presentations:

  • Textiles - From Fleece to Cloth
(shearing, washing, carding, spinning, dyeing and weaving wool)
  • Garments - From Tunics and Cloakes
(a fashion show including peasants, merchants and nobles)
  • Food - Out of Bowls and from the Spit
(historic cooking and food history from Medieval Europe)
  • Weapon & Armour - With Chainmail and Sword
(heavy infantry, a knight‘s armour as well as archers and gonners)

We are also organising events titeled „how people used to ..“ focusing on different topics like historic cooking, fashion, culture and more.
